Back into the swing of things!

Holiday weekends, combined with vacations usually bring a screeching halt to normal routine. Which means some catch up when you get back. The first thing you want to put back in order, is your schedule! Get everyone in your household back on the same page. We have discussed how organizing is about lifestyle, its just not the same lifestyle you enjoyed on your vacation! With your calendar back in order, work on the things that you touch everyday; laundry, basic household chores and meals. Be diligent on this, this is your working foundation. With your feet back under you, set a two week plan to get caught up on everything. Don't overload any one day with an unrealistic amount of chores and make sure to set a reward for yourself at the end of the two weeks when you have reached your goal. One weeks vacation can take up to three weeks to fully catch up on. It is a funny thing, our lives at home do not stop while we are out having fun, things just build up!

What is a lifestyle?

It is easy to use terms like lifestyle. It seems to cultured, even sexy. Everyone wants a "lifestyle." Mine is more "life" than "style", but it suits me very well. We too many times waste time, energy and emotion on the things we don't have, and we miss out on the treasures right in front of us! My treasure is my family. I have made it a priority to build and maintain a lifestyle that is not only family friendly, but family driven!

Lifestyle is actually defined as; the habits, attitudes, tastes, that constitute the mode of living of an individual or group. It's all about YOU! What YOU do. What you LIKE. YOUR treasure. All the attributes of lifestyle as defined above are on-going, ever changing developing, adapting to circumstances and environment. That is how you organize. Conversely, task is defined as a definite piece of work assigned. It is a one shot deal! We all know that getting/being organized is not a one shot deal. That being said, it is also not a one size fits all program. Let's take a look at that next! Go enjoy your treasure!

Welcome to the kick off of, "Organizing is a lifestyle not a task." Small changes and can result in huge effects, but knowing and embracing your style of organizing is what will really give you the freedom from guilt and always falling short. I will use everyday examples and inspirations to move the way you view, "getting organized." Please invite your family and friends on this journey with you, you will quickly learn how we view being organized often has less to do with what is in our house and more to do with how we view others and their homes.
